Our Range of Charcoal BBQs

Browse our exceptional range of charcoal BBQ, from Weber to classic designs, and find the perfect grill to enhance your outdoor cooking experience. There’s more to cooking with barbeques than you would think. Novice grillers will enjoy their meal regardless of how it’s cooked, provided it tastes good. Intermediates can easily differentiate between rare and medium-rare steaks. Then, the experts can tell if their food has been prepared on charcoal, electric, or gas grills with just a single bite.

That said, it’s common knowledge that food prepared on a charcoal barbeque tastes best as it provides a delicious and distinctive smoky flavour. The only downside is that charcoal grills don’t offer the convenience you find with electric and gas grills. They aren’t easy to fire up and require proper ventilation. Because they produce soot, these grills also need more maintenance.

For the reasons mentioned above, some people prefer owning two grills—a charcoal grill for special occasions and a gas or electric grill for convenient cooking.

Home Heating & BBQ has a range of reliable, high-quality charcoal grills. The series, known as Weber, offers a 10-year warranty on all its products. Here are some of the standout units.

WEBER ORIGINAL KETTLE

The Original Kettle is the pioneering unit of the Weber BBQ charcoal grills series. Its excellent performance through the years is why it’s Australia’s best-selling charcoal grill.

When you fire it up, it epitomises the charcoal grilling experience. You can enjoy gazing at the orange flames, hearing the sound of crackling briquettes, and experiencing the pleasant scent of the smoke.

Cooking is easy if you own this unit, as it comes with a cookbook with a wide range of Australian and international recipes. The built-in lid thermometer allows you to conveniently monitor the temperatures while preparing your food. In addition, the glass-reinforced nylon handles ensure you don’t get burnt.

WEBER SUMMIT CHARCOAL

The Weber Summit Charcoal grill has a double-walled insulated construction with porcelain enamel on the outside and steel inside. Besides enhancing its visual appeal, this design gives you more control over fire. It’s also immune to rust and guarantees an efficient cooking experience.

Additionally, this unit has a three-stage venting and cleaning system known as One-Touch. It makes it easier to remove ash after cooking, and the adjustable venting system allows you to control heat levels when preparing meals.

WEBER SMOKEY MOUNTAIN COOKER

If you love your meat smoked, then you need to check out the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. This mini-series in the wider Weber range is available in small, medium, and large sizes, depending on how much you want to cook.

The Smokey Mountain Cooker has an internal porcelain enamel water pan that moistens and tenderises food during preparation. Because of the increased moisture, this unit has a rust-resistant front-loading door and an aluminium vent.

WEBER GO-ANYWHERE

As the name suggests, this product is designed for portability. It’s ideal for picnics, camping, hiking, and other outdoor recreational activities.

It has a lid that can serve as a windshield and helps when smoking meats. Four foldable legs keep the lid in place during transit.

Wood Heating In-Built Vs Freestanding Solutions

Central heating makes your home warm and welcoming to friends and family. If wood is your fuel of choice, you should invest in the appropriate equipment. The two types of wood heating solutions ideal for Australian homes are in-built and freestanding heaters.

Your choice of a heating system depends on several factors including your personal preferences and home design. Read on if you would like to know the benefits of in-built and freestanding wood heaters.

WHAT IS AN IN-BUILT WOOD HEATER?

An in-built wood heater is a fireplace that is cut into the wall of your room like traditional fireplaces. Such fireplaces are iconic features in the home and can warm your room evenly. Below are a few benefits of using in-built wood fireplaces to heat your home.

i.                    Save Space

Square footage in major cities such as Sydney is costly. In-built fireplaces do not take up any space in the room. They can be built into your existing walls or pillars. Professional wood heater suppliers can provide several non-intrusive ways to install your fireplace and its chimney.

ii.                  Blends in with many décor themes

In-built fireplaces are versatile features that can fit in with any home design. Our range of wood heaters can match any theme from traditional rustic to modern minimalist designs. A wood-burning fireplace adds to the aesthetics of your home. A well-designed fireplace can draw the attention of your guest while providing a warm space to socialize.

iii.                Safe for family use

In-built fireplaces are among the safest wood heaters available. It is easy to watch your kids and direct them away from the fireplace. Also, modern fireplaces have protective glass doors to keep valuables safe from fire. Our in-built wood heaters are designed to contain the flames within the fireplace for extra safety.

WHAT IS A FREESTANDING WOOD HEATER?

A freestanding wood heater has a similar design to a portable barbeque. Freestanding wood heaters have four sturdy legs to hold them up. They also have chimneys for directing gases out of your home. Freestanding wood heaters have been warming Australian homes for centuries. Below are some benefits of the freestanding wood heaters available today.

i.                    Easy to install

Freestanding wood heaters are easy to install as they don’t need extensive construction work. The installation team only needs to construct an exit channel for your chimney. These heaters are available in various designs that can complement your home décor. Many buyers use our freestanding heaters as an iconic centrepiece in their living rooms.

ii.                  Quick heat distribution

Air flows freely under and around the body and chimney of freestanding heaters. This airflow carries the heat all around the room. The ease of heat distribution makes freestanding heaters ideal for large rooms.

iii.                Modern safety features

Modern freestanding heaters have unique safety features such as insulated housing. This type of insulation prevents the heater from burning you when you touch the outer body. Freestanding wood heaters have legs that allow a clearance of two to six inches from the ground. This clearance increases ventilation and protects your floor from the heat generated in the wood burner.

To sum up, wood burners are ideal for heating your home for many reasons. They are cost-effective and are about five times more energy-efficient than open fires. As a carbon-neutral fuel, wood is an environmentally friendly heating solution. Modern wood heating solutions are stylish and can add character to your home. Wood heaters are ideal down under where you have access to sustainable firewood.

Pros of Electric Fireplaces

From keeping you warm during winter to adding class to your home, having a fireplace has numerous benefits. The most popular types are gas-powered, wood-fired, and electric fireplaces.

Recently, more homeowners are opting for electric fireplaces. Let’s discuss why this is an intelligent move by highlighting the benefits of purchasing such equipment.

EASE OF USE

First, you don’t spend a lot of time preparing the wood – all you need to do is press a switch, while most models come with remote control.

Moreover, you can regulate the amount of heat generated by your fireplace. This is because electric variants come with a built-in thermostat that turns off the equipment automatically when the desired temperature is achieved.

ECO-FRIENDLINESS

The fuel used on gas-powered heaters mostly comes from unsustainable sources. Likewise, wood fireplaces contribute to deforestation. Both have adverse effects on the environment.

On the other hand, electric heaters use renewable sources, such as the sun and wind. Even where the electricity comes from different sources like geothermal, thermal, and nuclear, the environmental impact isn’t as extensive as the one caused by the other two options

EASE OF MAINTENANCE

If you want to keep your fireplace in a pristine condition, you need to clean it regularly. This isn’t an issue with electric fireplaces, as you only have to service them periodically. Notably, you’ll contact your electrician once in a while, and you can prolong the equipment’s lifetime by following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Any person who has ever owned a wood-fired fireplace can attest that it isn’t easy to maintain it. When wood burns, it produces soot and ash, all of which must be removed regularly to keep the equipment in a prime working condition. Also, burning wood produces specks of fire that can cause some pain to living creatures and damage your belongings.

Gas-powered heaters aren’t easy to maintain either. Although gas is smokeless, you have to check the supply lines continually. Due to its flammability, any leak could result in a huge fire. Moreover, natural gas has an unpleasant smell.

COST-EFFECTIVENESS

Despite having higher upfront costs than wood-fired fireplaces, electric heaters are more cost-effective in the long run. Governments worldwide are advocating for more use of electricity (and even subsidising the cost), while wood is becoming more expensive. This means that it’s smarter to invest in electric models, whether using them for heating or BBQ because you’ll end up saving money.

VARIETY

Electric fireplaces are available in multiple models. Regardless of your budget, you can get an option that suits you. You can also choose between traditional and smart models, with the latter being more expensive because it includes advanced features such as smartphone control.

WRAPPING UP

Heating systems make your home more liveable during winter. They also add value to your property, as no prospective buyer would want to stay in an environment that’s cold.

Over the years, electric fireplaces have evolved significantly. You can now get models that produce the beautiful flames that make wood-fired variants adored. Their prices have also reduced considerably due to technological advancements.

Lastly, you can choose the size you want, depending on the amount of space you have and your style preferences. At home heat bbq, we are suppliers of leading brands. Give us a call on 02 9838 1300 if you’d like to install an electric fireplace and our specialist staff will help you make the right choice.

Take Your Picnic to The Next Level: Portable BBQ Tips and Recipe Ideas

Whether you’re one for parties on the beach, camping trips, or just entertaining at home, a portable BBQ is a must-have. It lets you entertain from anywhere you can imagine.

In the spotlight today are outdoor picnics. Here’s how you can use the portable BBQ to take your picnics to the next level.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES

Accessories make it possible for you to grill a range of meals and serve your guests’ top-quality food. Here are some examples of accessories to consider:

  • Instant read thermometer and smart temperature hub to show you the internal temperature of your food. You’ll never burn or overcook your food.
  • Grill grates to prevent flare-ups when cooking extra fatty foods and ensure your food cooks evenly.
  • Grill cover. Best for those windy days to maintain the internal temperature of the food; it’s also a great way to prevent dirt from accumulating on your food while you’re cooking.
  • Portable BBQ grill cart to increase your working space and keep all your utensils within reach. You’ll cook faster and be more organised, ensuring that your guests eat on time.

Once you have all the accessories you need, it’s time to decide on your meal plan.

GET THE RIGHT FOOD

Depending on who you’re entertaining, the traditional hamburgers and hot dogs may not be enough to impress. So here are several ideas to try:

Muffalettas

These are small sandwiches made from Italian rolls (you hollow out the centre) and fill with:

  • Grilled sweet apple slices
  • Cooked green beans
  • Dijon mayo sauce
  • Cheese
  • Ham

Coffee-crusted meat

You can make this with salmon, lamb, steak, or pork. Simply mix the following:

  • Ground espresso
  • Brown sugar
  • Ginger
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Cinnamon

Then drizzle some oil onto the steak, rub the coffee mix for 2 to 4 minutes, and grill on both sides.

Grilled potatoes

Potatoes are one of the easiest, most convenient meals to prepare. Boil them in salt and then grill until they are brown on both sides. Add some bacon and let the drippings fall on the potatoes to create a wonderful explosion of flavour for an exciting variation.

Grilled mushrooms

If you’re hosting a vegan BBQ, you can play around with some mushroom ideas – season to taste and grill. Serve with hamburger rolls or as part of an antipasto delight.

Get the right grill

All your plans will flop if you choose the wrong grill. Trust Home Heat and BBQ for all your Weber BBQs.

Charcoal BBQs are ideal when it comes to portable entertaining. Here are some features you should look for to ensure your picnics and outdoor grills are always on point:

  • Porcelain enamel lid & bowl for improved heat control.
  • Ash catcher to ensure you leave the picnic venue clean.
  • Rust-free vents.
  • Glass-reinforced handles for improved aesthetics and extra strength. They won’t break when you’re lifting the grill.

5 Points To Consider Before You Build Your Outdoor Kitchen

Great barbecues and outdoor dining makes the summer heat more bearable. But moving up and down between the kitchen and outdoor dining area when you’re hosting is simply tiring and drains all the fun out.

Building an outdoor kitchen can help improve your hosting experiences. Below are some of the key features to think about before you start your outdoor kitchen project.

1.      LOCATION

Consider where to position your outdoor kitchen. If you place it far from your house, you’ll need to run the amenities like gas, water, and electricity over a longer distance which can be more expensive.

Plus, if it’s far away from the house, you will need to make sure the outdoor kitchen has all the equipment you need. This will help avoid shuffling equipment and supplies between the two kitchens.

One idea is to build the outdoor kitchen next to your back door, so it can be near enough to your indoor kitchen to share equipment and supplies without having to walk a long distance.

2.      CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

The outdoor kitchen is constantly exposed to the elements— that’s why it’s important to invest in high-quality weather-hardy materials that can withstand the outdoors. For example, durable plastics and stainless steel for all your essential equipment.

You can consider other weatherproof materials, such as granite, stained concrete or stone for the countertops, and other features. Choosing durable materials ensures that your kitchen can last the long haul.

3.      FUNCTIONALITY

Another important consideration is what you are going to use the kitchen for. If you intend to use it as an escape from the indoor heat just for your family, you may not need to have a huge space or lots of equipment.

On the other hand, if you plan to do a lot of entertaining, you’ll need to consider making it roomier and including larger equipment that can cater to many people. For instance, you will need sufficient counter space or a large sink for entertaining.

You may also want to get more permanent fixtures like a fridge if you plan on hosting often over the long term.

4.      AMBIENCE

How the outdoor kitchen looks is an integral part of the overall look and feel of your home. You need to consider the ambience and design. This includes the colours, layouts, and lighting. Try to choose colours that complement the overall feel of your house.

It’s essential to focus on the lighting. Combining different lights can improve the overall look. For example, hanging downlights on the wall combined with more targeted lighting under work surfaces can bring it all together. If you plan to entertain a lot at night, consider adding pathway lights to make it safer.

5.      WEATHER ADJUSTMENTS

Your outdoor kitchen won’t serve you only on the blistering summer days. You need to consider adding features to make it more comfortable all year through.

Add some vital cooling features like fans and air conditioning to keep it cool during the summer heat. For the colder weather, think about heaters or a fireplace. You’ll also need to choose the overhead protection that best suits your climate.

To sum up

Building an outdoor kitchen space is a fabulous idea, whether you choose to entertain or enjoy the great outdoors with your family. Head on over to Home Heat and BBQ for all your durable outdoor kitchen supplies.

Our Top Considerations for Choosing the Right Weber BBQ for Your Summer Grilling

Weber BBQ offer a wide selection of charcoal and gas BBQs with different sizes, grills, and accessories. With so many options available, choosing one can be intimidating. To help you out, we’ve compiled a few guidelines to narrow down your choice.

GAS OR CHARCOAL?

Charcoal has the following advantages:

  • It can reach a significantly higher temperature than gas
  • It produces a smoky flavour on your meat
  • It’s less costly when compared to gas BBQs

However, the cons include:

  • Charcoal takes longer to fire up than gas BBQs
  • It’s harder to clean compared to gas

Meanwhile, gas has the following pros when considering the right BBQ:

  • Lower carbon footprint, making it more environmentally friendly
  • Faster to start up
  • Easier to control the temperature
  • The ability to grill different foods without worrying about the smoky flavour ruining meals – like vegetables

Its disadvantages include:

  • Harder to assemble
  • There are some safety risks associated with using gas
  • Dangerous to carry around

HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY?

Weber BBQs are a heritage brand, servicing cooking needs for over 50 years. With such a wide range of styles, you’ll find something within your price range, from as low as $100 to $5000.

Cheaper grills tend to have only utility functions, while the more expensive styles come with various bells and whistles. For example, a pricier BBQ may include add-on features such as inbuilt thermometers, shelves, counter space, stylish colours, or reinforced handles. Choose a price that’s comfortable for your budget.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU USE THE BBQ?

If you BBQ meat or veggies regularly, you require one that’s easy to fire up and clean. The Weber Q Gas BBQs are a great option, as they come with easy-start ignitions and are simple to clean.

If you use the BBQ mostly on weekends and holidays, consider bulkier options such as the Summit Charcoal or Smokey Mountain series that use charcoal briquettes. Both options have drip trays and ash catchers with easier single-touch cleaning options, which provide more convenience than other charcoal options.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL YOU BE SERVING?

A smaller cooker will work just fine if you grill mostly for yourself or your family. However, the more you entertain, the bigger the cooking component of the grill needs to be. Depending on how big your crowds can get, you may need five burners or more.

WHAT KIND OF ACCESSORIES DO YOU NEED?

Choose different accessories depending on your needs; for instance, working spaces and a lid are great for aesthetics and making your work easier.

You can also purchase accessories that level up your grilling game. The Weber iGrill 3 comes with a smart function that allows you to watch the food’s internal temperature on the app. You can also set a timer and control the grill’s temperature via remote control.

Bottom line; your choice of BBQ ultimately depends on your needs, so make a checklist based on these questions and choose the best one from the range of top-of-the-line Weber BBQs. Contact Home Heat & BBQ for more assistance in finding the right BBQ for your needs.

How to Properly Clean Your Charcoal BBQ Each Time for Improved Results and Longevity

Keeping your Charcoal BBQ clean is incredibly important – it helps prevent food poisoning and stomach upsets and will also stay in perfect condition for a longer time. If you don’t adequately take care of it, the metal components may rust, and you’ll have to replace the entire BBQ.

Consider doing a basic clean-up of your BBQ and the grills after every use, and then give it a thorough clean-up every quarter. Here’s our guide on how to do it.

STEP 1: GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

You want to make sure you clean the grill without causing damage to the paint or the metal parts; the metal surfaces may rust if you use the wrong cleaning agents. So gather the tools you’ll need, such as:

  • Rubber gloves to cover your hands
  • A brush with stiff bristles to scrape off any baked-on particles of food and grease
  • A soft cloth without lint for cleaning, wiping, and polishing
  • Mild detergent soap
  • A non-abrasive scourer pad for removing stains
  • Non-aggressive glass cleaning agent to clean the painted parts
  • Mild stainless steel surfactant for cleaning shiny metal.

Remember to read the cleaning directions on your specific BBQ to make sure you don’t use the wrong cleaning tools. If you accidentally damage it, this may void your warranty.

STEP 2: HEAT THE BBQ

Leave the charcoal BBQ on and close the lid for about 15 to 20 minutes. The heat will burn the food residue and grease into a black flaky layer which is easier to scrape off. When the time is up, switch it off and leave it to cool.

STEP 3: START CLEANING

  • With the hard brush (preferably stainless steel), scrape off the flaky grease layer from the inner part of the lid and the grills.
  • Detach the grills and wash them with warm soapy water using the non-abrasive scourer sponge. Also, clean the lid in the same way.  Side Note: – Remember to wipe down the lid with a moist cloth after every use to prevent the grease from accumulating – it will save you a lot of cleaning time.
  • Now, clean the top of the lid (painted part) with a mild soapy water solution. Then use the soft cloth to wipe it dry. Follow up with a glass cleaner to polish the surface and give it an appealing lustre.
  • Use the stainless steel surfactant to clean the metal components of the lid and any shelves made of metal. Move the lint-free cloth from side to side, then buff it until it shines.
  • With a flat metal object like a scraper or putty knife, scrape off any big food particles and black layers inside the BBQ. Now clean up with the mild soap and cleaning pad. Rinse with clean, warm water and dry with a soft cloth.
  • Empty your drip tray and clean it with soap and water.
  • Apply vegetable oil onto the grills to prevent rust. Use just enough oil to make the grill shiny but not wet. Now, reassemble all the parts and cover the BBQ or place it in your shed to prevent any damage by the elements.

And that’s it; your charcoal BBQ is clean and ready for the next use.
